Proboscis Monkeys

Proboscis monkeys (nasalis larvatus) live only in Borneo.

These wonderful monkeys inhabit costal mangrove, swamps and riverine forests, but due to the extensive loss of their habitat, Proboscis monkeys are classified as near extinction.

Proboscis monkeys are easily identified by the male’s large protruding nose. Proboscis monkeys live in small groups with a dominant male and his harem. Bachelor males form small groups of their own.

Proboscis monkeys are excellent climbers and swimmers and have been observed walking upright in an in-line formation.

Each Borneo Proboscis Monkey image is available for sale as a photographic print or high resolution digital image. If you would like to purchase any of the images you encounter in our Borneo Proboscis Monkey photo collections, please email us.
