Hang out at Mount Kinabalu on the worlds’ highest via Ferrata!

worlds highest via ferrata, sabah, borneo, malaysia, kota kinabalu, lows peak circuit, mount kinabalu, downbelow, pendant hut, kinabalu national park, unesco designated site, world heritage site,

Many of our clients opt to hang out at Mount Kinabalu, especially because there’s a chance to complete the worlds’ highest via Ferrata at 3,776m altitude!

Recently, our client from Canada, Peter Martinello completed the climb Mount Kinabalu challenge on our 3D2N standard climbing package that our Sabah Travel Centre personalised to cater to Peter’s specific needs.

He spent 2 nights at Pendant Hut, which is the accommodation used for those participants wishing to descend from Low’s Peak via Ferrata, and the extra first night really helped him to acclimatise to the difference in atmosphere.

Peter prepared himself well with the advice our helpful travel experts offered him to successfully complete his goals – and he was very happy with himself to have finished the Guinness World Record, advanced via Ferrata Low’s Peak circuit!

Peter also qualified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver, under the tutelage of one of our dedicated and full time PADI Instructors, at our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre before his climb. The dive theory concerned with gas narcosis is related to the effects of altitude sickness, which Peter didn’t experience at all during his itinerary because he acclimatised to the altitude at the Laban Rata Plateau during his extra night (amongst other forms of preparation).

marine, wildlife, adventure, holiday packages, travel packages, borneo, malaysia, sabah, kota kinabalu, explore, scuba diving, enriched air diver, diving course, PADI dive centre, 5 star dive centre, tar marine park, kinabatangan river, river cruise, padas river, white water rafting, wild rapids

Explore Sabah, Borneo for a personalised holiday on our many marine, wildlife and adventure packages, like Richard’s old friend Jason is doing!

Jason visits our 5 Star Dive Centre to qualify as PADI Enriched Air Diver, and his Instructor is his old friend Richard Swann. As a Platinum PADI Course Director, elite Instructor Trainer, Richard has a lot of dive experience to share with Jason!

As he completes his course, Jason also explores the TAR marine park with some leisure dives, making for an exciting start to his Sabah adventure.

Wildlife spotting cannot be missed when visiting Borneo, and there’s so many endemic and rare animals in Sabah itself. Jason will fly to Sandakan town, on Sabah’s east coast, and be transferred to the Kinabatangan River for some peace and relaxation while getting closer to nature in Bilit Village. A good camera is highly suggested to capture the numerous hornbills guests spot during the morning and early evening river cruises.

For the next Sabah adventure (but probably not the last), Jason is white water rafting at the mighty rapids of Padas River! Hoping it’s terrible weather on that day…because it makes the rapids wilder!

Combine various day trips, overnight stays, luxury accommodation or budget backpackers, we have the expertise to personalise your Borneo holiday!

Complete PADI Enriched Air Specialty and keep diving!

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014 @ 11:39 Enriched Air Nitrox, News

Complete UW Nitrox

Our PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Pablo is teaching PADI Enriched Air Specialty and the PADI Advanced Open Water course too!

His clients are already certified divers, but they are building their scuba diving knowledge by continuing their education and they will discover their scuba diving horizons expand!

The PADI Enriched Air Specialty program is a valuable qualification for those recreational divers who would like to dive to deep depths for a chance to explore a shipwreck or possibly extend their bottom time to take the perfect picture.

It is a very user-friendly course and introduces the benefits of owning a dive computer, which adjusts the limits according to oxygen content very easily.

It is required by PADI standards to use a dive computer on the PADI Enriched Air Specialty course and at Downbelow’s beach house, for our clients’ convenience, we have scuba diving computers available for rent.

The PADI Advanced Open Water course may be integrated with the PADI Enriched Air Specialty course to enhance the students’ dive education. Two scuba diving disciplines, deep and underwater navigation, are compulsory to certify as a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, but five dives must be completed altogether to qualify. The other three dives are elected through a discussion between the PADI Instructor and their student.

What PADI Specialties will keep you diving?

There is an extensive list of scuba diving disciplines that may interest you, which you have the option to combine with the PADI Advanced Open Water course, or participate in the PADI Specialty as a stand-alone course.

Contact one of our very friendly and experienced staff at our Head Office in KK Times Square to discuss your goals to create a scuba diving adventure!
