The Danish Group catching some early morning sun on the beach in front of the dive centre on Gaya island

The Danish adventure group was back on the island again this week after hiking the Borneo jungle along the Salt Trails.

This time they were living on Gaya island at our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre, where the Downbelow crew erected a group-sized tent for them.

Protected from the elements and creatures, their temporary accommodations was, as our resident PADI Course Director Richard likes to say, 1 million star accommodation.

All they had to do at night was peak out from under the tent and look up to the clear skies above Kota Kinabalu… unless it was raining of course, in which case they were safe and dry nevertheless.

Regardless, they lived on the island during their PADI Open Water Course. Every morning they would awake at the crack of dawn to the sounds of the jungle and waves gently lapping the beach in front of the dive centre.

Our dive centre on Gaya island is beautifully equipped for groups and we’ll be using it extensively throughout the next couple of weeks as we host several groups.

If you’re looking for group activities, be it team building, scuba diver training or environmental awareness, get in touch and let’s see how we can get your group camping on Gaya island.
