Open Water Briefing

One of our Go PRO team members’, PADI Staff Instructor Tim, briefs his PADI Open Water Course students on their next confined dive skills.

All clients at Downbelow receive a thorough briefing during their program. Tim’s students must understand how to perform skills and their value, which develops their knowledge of scuba diving.

A PADI Instructor will demonstrate the skills with slow and exaggerated movement so their student may observe all the key points of performing the skill before attempting the skill themselves. A PADI Open Water Course is structured to gradually increase divers’ confidence.

Any new skills are introduced in confined shallow water, such as our lagoon, which is on the doorstep of our PADI 5 Star IDC dive centre. Once skills are mastered in shallow water, some skills are to be repeated by the student during the open water dives. However, there is no demonstration by the PADI Instructor in open water as this is part of his assessment, but students will be briefed before getting into the water of course!

Tim is one of our PADI IDC Staff Instructor’s and has extensive experience in dive education. The role of a Staff Instructor is to assist a PADI Course Director in the Instructor Development Course (IDC). It is important for all PADI Instructor Trainers to keep up-to-date with any changes to PADI Standards, so they may guide future PADI Instructors to maintain a high standard of safety in scuba diving training and education.

Downbelow’s priority is safety! Our dive instruction reflects this through the conduct of each and all courses and programs and highly impressed throughout the training of our IDC candidates.

Visit our PADI 5 Star IDC beach house at Gaya Island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park and know that you will receive a high standard of training and this will enhance your future scuba diving experiences!

Get in touch with one of our helpful Head Office staff and they will assist, with your individual needs and goals, to cater a suitable program.
