PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre
Downbelow’s PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Dive & Adventure Centre on Gaya Island, is staffed by PADI Professionals of Active Teaching Status.
Our international guide and instructor team includes British, Malaysian and Chinese staff, able to cater to a variety of nationalities and languages in both course instruction and activities.
We are fully licensed through Malaysia’s Ministry of Culture, Arts & Tourism.
To us, your safety is paramount, which is why we adhere to PADI Standards & Procedures as well as British HSE Guidelines, ensuring a safe, fun experience for all.
Downbelow do Risk Assessments for the activities we conduct and regularly review and update them as and when required.
We also have an Emergency Action Plan in place on the island so that everyone, if required, knows what to do where and when.
This is to cover any eventuality that might arise. The plan is also constantly reviewed and updated and is displayed at our dive centre on Gaya Island.
To facilitate rapid response we utilise communication links made possible through marine radios on all our boats and handheld radio communications on land.
Thus enabling any member of the team to communicate with the dive centre at all times.
All Downbelow’s staff are trained in Emergency First Response CPR and First Aid.
We have the prescribed oxygen and First Aid equipment available at the dive centre, as well as on all our dive boats.
Clean, pure air to breathe underwater is vital and thus Downbelow uses our own Bauer Marina 250 Compressors with NITROX filters for our tank refills.
The compressors are regularly serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, ensuring optimal performance for your safety and enjoyment. The filters are never re-used, but are always replaced with new ones.
Air purity tests are regularly and independently conducted and recorded.
At Downbelow’s PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island we use 12 & 15 litre aluminum tanks.
Our tanks feature A clamp fittings.
In case you need it, we also have DIN adapters available to rent.
As with all our equipment, the tanks too are serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
On our Gaya Island dive station you will find Sherwood Scuba, Atomic Aquiatics, Sec Sub and Mares regulartors.
Our regulators are regularly serviced and tagged accordingly.
Our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive & Adventures has qualified in-house service engineers.
You can thus rest assured that our regulators are kept in tip top shape for peak performance and your safety.
Detailed service logs are kept for all equipment.
