Illegal Net Removal – Sept 2013

At Downbelow, we realise the serious threat a fishing net brings to the marine ecosystem and whenever we found them in our protected marine park, we report them to the authorities.

However, our job does not end there. We will take it upon ourselves to immediately remove the net from the ocean floor as every second it is there, it is killing more and more marine animals by trapping them there.

The trapped animals now become bait to other animals and invite them to come near which will get themselves caught in the net as well. This death cycle will go on until someone take the menace from the ocean.

So when we found a discarded net a few days ago, we didn’t wait for the authorities to make their move. The Downbelow company fully support these projects by providing the staff & logistics.

Thanks to everyone involved, the net was safely removed.
