The Monsopiad Cultural Village is a historical site in the heartland of the Kadazandusun.

It’s located in Putatan, a suburb just outside the city of Kota Kinabalu.

As a living museum, the Monsopiad Cultural Village is an invitation to take part in a small part of the Kadazandusun traditional lifestyle.

You can experience and take part in celebratory dancing and singing.

You’ll also witness handicraft making and preparing rice for making rice wine, and to get to know more about these unique peoples of Sabah.

Proboscsis Monkey & Firelies

This wonderful day trip takes place in Garama Village – Garama River, Sabah.

Located about 130km ( approx 1.5 hours road trip ) from Kota Kinabalu.

The highlight of this tour is of course seeing the remarkable Proboscis Monkey in the wild!

In addition there is also the possibility of seeing many other species of Wildlife.

Tropical birds, macaques, silver langur, crocodiles and water buffalo all inhabit the region.

Part of the river where you are to spot Proboscis monkeys and, later on, fireflies.

Included on this great value trip is a delicious Malaysian style buffet dinner at the Garama Lodge.

After dinner guests can experience the fabulous natural light show of the Fireflies lighting up the Mangrove Jungle.

Itinerary

08:50 Pick-up from KK city area including Shangri La Tanjung Aru Resort
09:20 Arrive at Monsopiad Cultural Village for registration and welcome drink
09:30 Cultural dance show – guest can take part in the dances
10:00 Visit the House of Skulls, Monolith, Tangkob, Kotos, traditional games and Hamin Tinandai Traditional handicraft & local rice wine is available at the souvenir shop
12:00 Return to Kota Kinabalu for lunch at a local restaurant (end of tour for half day)
14:00 Depart to Beaufort for about a 2-hour drive to the southern part of Sabah
16:00 Arrive Garama River (weather permitting)
16:30 Cruise along the river to see who is out in the jungle tonight
18:45 Enjoy a Malaysian-style buffet dinner
19:00 Watch the fireflies in the mangrove jungle
19:30 Depart to Kota Kinabalu
21:30 Estimated time of arrival in Kota Kinabalu
