On his first day on the island he will meet with our resident Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann. Tyler will be introduced to Downbelow operations, the Go PRO team of Instructor Trainers and his crew pack of PADI materials for the Instructor Development Course (IDC).
Included as part of Tyler’s internship program, a pre-IDC preparation will be conducted before the start of the course on January 27th.
Members of the Go PRO team conduct sessions of theory and skill workshops to assess candidates. The purpose of our pre-IDC preparation sessions is for IDC candidates to refresh their skills learnt from the PADI Divemaster course and provide an insight of what is expected of a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
In the time prior to the start of the course orientation, candidates are encouraged to assist on as many PADI programs and courses taught by our full time Downbelow PADI Instructors and learn from these experiences.
The knowledge attained from practical experience is most valuable to the in-water assessments during the course.
There is a vast difference between PADI Divemaster and PADI Instructor in their level of supervision, control and leadership. These qualities of a dive educator is developed from real scuba diving experiences and not simulated scenarios and our internships are so successful because of this learning method.
At Downbelow, we cater to many levels of PADI professionals to further their career development and as dive educators we are passionate about continuing your education, as well as our own.
Many of our internship candidates continue their education at our PADI 5 Star IDC dive centre because of our high standard of quality dive instruction training.
